Denyse Schmidt Quilts

This is a cool book even if you don't quilt. (which I don't) Lots of hip, simple projects to do on the machine with your scraps. These slippers were fun and easy to make espicially since there are few straight lines. The hardest part was sewing the sole on since you are going through lots of layers. I wasn't able to sew a straight seam so I did a crooked seam a few times around the edge. It goes with the crazy uneven seams done on the strap. Great for schlepping around the house.

Built By Wendy

This is one of the Bulit By Wendy patterns; Simplicity 4112. I had been waiting for these patterns to become available as they looked to be casual and hip. This top was easy to make and the directions were easy to follow. The only change I made was to add 1" to the side seams. I am bigger through the ribcage than the size 12 I cut out. I only had 1 yard of the squares so i used a printed chiffon for the sleeves and belt. I like the contrast between the circles and squares and the flowing sleeves. This top looks really cute with rolled jeans and boots.
