Month 2

Well we are getting settled into the routine. We worked our keisters off to get the shop presentable by our first Yappy Hour at the end of July. Unforunately we didn't have too many attendees, if fact we had only 2. I open the shop door for drop off and pick up to get it noticed and we have gotten a great response. The shop just wasn't getting any notice inside the house. We have sold some merchandise and I have 2 orders for paintings already.
There's still a bit of work to do with getting the grooming area finished, but it's coming along nicely. I've bought a bit of new merchandise and am planning a larger order probably next month. August and September are the lean months due to back to school. I want to have a huge Howloween Party in October so I'll be sure to have the new stuff by then. It's been pretty fun shopping around online for dog products. I want to find eco-friendly, recycled, and/or local products to sell. I also want to do some more handmade stuff. A friend's mom is working of felted dogs and dog blankies. She said she'd also do some sweaters for winter.
Now that the house is mostly empty, I'm anxious to get some stuff moved in. Definitely living room furniture since right now we have a tiny tv on a discarded table with a folding chair. The master bedroom needs the most work since that was where the groomer was. We are going to need to redo the floors in there and get rid of the remaining stuff.
On another note, I'm starting to freak out about the wedding since I only have 2 months left. I'm waiting for the invites so we can get those out and tomorrow I'm going to put in the rental order for the reception tableware. Then I need to figure out how many centerpieces I need so I can put in a flower order.
So I'm keeping plenty busy :)

I'm going to try to get some large canvases this weekend so i can do some more. these take about 2-3 days to do especially if done on a larger scale.

new pup art

mike and i are going to open a doggie day care since we both love dogs and are unhappy in our current jobs. as well as the day care, we want to have a shop of sorts. besides dog food, toys and accessories, i want to sell my dog paintings. i started doing some different breeds and have been playing with my painting style as well. they will still be in bright colors and larger scale since that is what i like to do. if these turn out well, i think i'd like to try to sell prints of the original paintings. these recent pups are from a book called "97 ways to make your dog smile"

i hope that isn't some kind of copyright infringement if i sell the paintings. hmmm i'll look into that. anyway i love how these dogs are all smiling with big happy faces.

so, i'll be posting paintings as i finish them and more on the doggie day care as events unfold.

pup art update

Tuesday was the opening of our staff art show and the dog paintings were a hit! Everyone loved them and had nothing but good things to say about them. 2 of our big doners, Steve and Reba Savageu also loved them which meant a lot because they are an art dealer and a fine artist respectively.

pup art

the staff art show is coming up again and i figured i'd enter something this time. i entered my first year at the library but after seeing the art pieces from other staff members... well i felt that my stuff was more craftsy than artsy. i mean some of them are real artists. so i didn't enter the second year.

this year i figured "what the hey" and painted max and noel. i really like my style of painting and feel inspired by the wieners.

this christmas, i did paintings for the dog park folks. they turned out really nice, i think. i liked how they came out so much that i took photos and want to frame them for here at mike's. it'll be tucker's wall of buddies.
