Ok it's time for new year's resolutions so, I decided to do the Apartment Therapy January Cure
First assignment is Make a Project List. So room by room I made a list of things I want to get done.
Porches- organize toys and shoes, paint steps and floors, build gates, make ramp into yard
Kitchen- touch up painting
Living Room- reupholster sofa and chairs
Dining Room- figure out use for space
Office- organize closet
Bathroom- redo floor, paint, and tile
Bedroom- organize closet
Kid's room- get toys organized. organize closet
We just got back from vacation so I'm working on Assignments 1 and 2 this weekend. Luckily hubby and I did a bit of #2 already by vacuuming the rugs. I'm looking forward to shopping for flowers.

It's the little things...

Well this is embarrassing. One year to the day since the last post.  We just got caught up with other things. We were also waiting for a friend to help with the tile. I can't believe what a difference the tile has made. It looks like we have a kitchen re-do now.

I have also been sitting on those Ikea Asker containers for a year and a half. So long that they don't even sell them anymore.

This project was all my procrastinating. I wanted a coat rack on this wall by the door and a friend suggested a solar system to go with our spacey kitchen. I found the Earth knob at a craft store and was sold on the idea. I drew the lines on the wall using this method. 

I could only find eight knobs that looked like planets. I was going to go against Neil Degrasse Tyson and include Pluto, but it seems it was not in the stars for me.

Countertops and floors

Hooray! The countertops are finally in. No more boards balanced across the cabinets.

We also have our new cork floor in as well.

The lesson today is that slat flooring cannot be turned on 90 degree angles.

My original floor design was sort of a basket weave. Since we learned that flooring all has to go the same direction, our pattern is now an Atari Breakout inspired design.

Bye bye fugly floor!

We Have Cabinets!

We finally have all of the cabinets in with doors on them.

Oh except for the one over the fridge. We have to cut that one shorter so we can put new floor in underneath the fridge.

This week's task is to get the countertop ordered.
